Niemann secures US Open berth

OAKMONT: Joaquin Niemann charged to victory at LIV Golf Mexico City on Sunday, claiming his third victory of the season and securing his berth at the US Open at Oakmont in June.

The 26-year-old Chilean had seven birdies and one bogey in a six-under 65 at Club de Golf Chapultepec, adding the title to those he won in Singapore and Adelaide.
In solidifying his place atop the LIV standings, he booked his place in the third major of the year, with the United States Golf Association awarding a berth to the top-ranked player from the Saudi-backed series as of May 19 who is not otherwise exempt.
