Motorist shot dead on city expressway

Police were pursuing a gunman, as of press time, who was driving a luxury van when he shot dead a motorist on a Bangkok expressway near Pracha Chuen toll plaza in Bang Sue district yesterday morning.

The shooting was captured on a CCTV camera, which showed that the suspect was in a white Toyota Vellfire, while the deceased was driving a white Toyota Altis car.

The Vellfire had passed the tollgate first and slowed down, likely in the manner of waiting for the Altis to pass. The suspected killer struck about 200 metres from the toll plaza at about 4.50am.

The victim was in the driver's seat of the Altis, which is registered in Sa Kaeo province. He was identified as Anuwat Yatniyom, 34. He was shot three times, with the fatal bullet striking him in the neck.
