Seoul's Sticky Monster Lab brings a playful perspective to the festive season at Central Embassy
Christmas Village
To celebrate the festive season, Central Embassy collaborated with Sticky Monster Lab (SML), a multidisciplinary creative studio from Seoul, South Korea, to create decorations and installations titled “Funny Little Mess: Season Of Giving” which is being displayed until Jan 4.
Founded in 2007, SML began to gain recognition for its short animation film The Runners and later expanded its boundaries to include illustrations, graphic designs, animations, exhibitions and product designs. Created by Fla and Boo, SML stands out for their unique monster characters with emotionless faces. Despite its minimalistic design, the monster characters reflect people's inner emotions, allowing viewers to connect with them.
The theme of “Funny Little Mess: Season Of Giving” is a story of two characters, Redmon and Elfmon. The Funny Little Mess began when Elfmon stole Redmon’s stocking which he had prepared as a gift for Santa Claus. Thus, Redmon has to chase Elfmon around Central Embassy, which causes a mess at many locations. The two characters eventually learn that true gifts are not limited to only presents inside stockings, but in the beauty of friendship and sharing in their own way.
Visitors can witness the mischievous pranks of Elfmon starting from the front yard on level G. The area is called The Wishing Tree, which displays Redmon next to a 13m-tall Christmas tree sparkling with dazzling lights. Elfmon sneakily hides inside one of the gift boxes under the Christmas tree. At the main entrance, Stick-ey Together Fountain depicts a parade of carved wooden Nutcrackers over 3m tall. In the same area, Elfmon is spotted running with a Christmas stocking in hand.
