The border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia is disrupting Japanese businesses and regional trade, said Otaka Masato, Japan's ambassador to Thailand.

- PORAMET TANGSATHAPORN

Speaking at a briefing on “Overview of the International Situation and Outlook for Japan's Diplomacy” held at the Japanese embassy in Bangkok yesterday, Mr Masato addressed the situation along the Thailand-Cambodia border.

He expressed concern that the tensions have disrupted Japanese business operations in both countries and urged a swift resolution.

“One of Asean’s greatest strengths is connectivity,” he said.

“Many Japanese businesses have invested in the region for this reason, particularly in Thailand and Cambodia. However, the current conflict is obstructing that connectivity, making it more difficult for companies to operate efficiently,” he said.
