GPF tweaks investment strategy amid volatility

The Government Pension Fund (GPF) has fine-tuned its investment plan to enhance flexibility in response to the volatile global economy.

According to GPF secretary-general Songpol Chevapanyaroj, the volatility is driven by multiple factors, including uncertainty in major economies, as well as domestic and international geopolitical risks.

He said the GPF must monitor developments and manage investments by adjusting its strategic asset allocation in line with the changing investment environment.

The fund also revised the definition of, and its perspectives on, investment asset classes. Instead of traditionally categorising assets simply as low-risk (stable) and high-risk, the fund takes a more flexible approach by grouping assets into active and defensive asset categories in order to enhance flexibility and efficiency in investment management.
