Film claims to name killer of slain Al Jazeera journo

WEST BANK: A new documentary purports to name the Israeli soldier responsible for the killing of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was shot dead while reporting in the occupied West Bank in 2022.

Abu Akleh, a Palestinian-American reporter renowned for her coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict, was fatally shot in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, while wearing a bulletproof vest marked “press”.
Al Jazeera and eyewitnesses immediately blamed the Israeli army. Then-prime minister Naftali Bennett initially suggested that the gunfire had likely come from Palestinian militants. In the weeks that followed, several independent journalistic investigations pointed to Israeli fire as the source of the fatal shot.
