Elephant sanctuary sets ecosystem benchmark

An elephant sanctuary in Phitsanulok is setting a new standard for ecotourism by serving as an example of an elephant camp that truly prioritises the well-being of its residents, advocates say.

Sappraiwan Elephant Sanctuary, located in a serene forest area in Wang Thong district, spans over 900 rai and offers a compassionate model dedicated to the welfare of elephants while promoting ethical and responsible tourism.

The sanctuary, under the Sappraiwan Elephant Foundation, rescues elephants previously used in tourism and logging, many of whom suffered physical injuries and psychological trauma from years of hard labour.
