Eco-friendly estate remains on track

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) retains hope for the development of a "circular industrial estate", despite slow progress on the project.
The new industrial estate is to be located in Map Ta Phut in Rayong, aligning with the government's bio-, circular and green economic model, which encourages manufacturers to adopt techniques that add value to their products with minimum environmental impact.
The IEAT initiated the circular industrial estate in 2024 and signed memorandums of cooperation with various agencies to jointly conduct a feasibility study on the project.
The impetus for construction of the new complex lost steam because of the sluggish economy, said Sumet Thangprasert, governor of the IEAT.
