Director in school lunch scandal to serve 25 years

After a five-year battle, the Supreme Court has rejected an appeal to reduce the sentence of Somchao Sitthichen, former director of Ban Tha Mai School in Surat Thani, in a high-profile corruption case involving fraudulent school lunch funding, according to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The case gained national attention when it was revealed that kindergarten students were served only fermented rice noodles with fish sauce as lunch, while official documents falsely reported the purchase of more regular and nutritious food supplies.
