A suspect believed to be a key figure behind the bombing and arson attacks on 11 petrol stations in the deep South was shot dead during a security operation in Yala province early yesterday morning, authorities said.
The raid took place at a house in Ban Po-yani, Sateng Nok sub-district, Mueang Yala district, after officers received intelligence that a suspect linked to the Jan 11 attacks had taken refuge there. A joint special operations unit comprising security agencies surrounded the house shortly after midnight.
