Cabinet boosts defence budget

The cabinet has approved an additional 5.05-billion-baht contingency budget to support the armed forces amid border tensions with Cambodia.
The cabinet has approved an additional contingency budget of 5.05 billion baht to support the Defence Ministry, channelled through the Royal Thai Armed Forces, the Royal Thai Army, the navy and the air force. Details of the allocation remain classified.
According to government spokesman Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul raised the issue during yesterday's cabinet meeting, citing continued concerns over the Thai-Cambodian border situation, which has yet to fully return to normal.
