Foster care threat kicked down road
An Ayr dad is calling for a new social work team to urgently review his case file as his youngest daughter endures a 27-month foster care 'threat.
Ayrshire Live previously told how the dad's 10-year-old girl faced the 'terrifying' prospect of being taken away from him.
The dad, aged 53, revealed how he lived with a violent partner for 15 years and was a victim of domestic abuse.
Since the toxic relationship ended, the father and his two daughters, 10 and 16, have lived happily and securely in their home for the last 23 months.
But according to the dad, who we are not naming, South Ayrshire Council social workers recommended that the youngest child be taken into a foster care setting.
A crunch meeting between social workers and the family took place on Wednesday, June 25 - when a panel determined that the case would be reviewed again in October.
It means that the dad still faces the prospect of losing his girl - and a total wait of 27 months before the case draws to a conclusion.
As a result, there's now a fresh cloud hanging over the family unit.
The dad said: "Basically, they'll revisit this in four months' time. So that takes us up to 27 months. But we'll go back and continue to work with social work.
"They never gave us any reason as to why they changed their mind and recommendation.
