Well done to the Shots and to all of us!

FEW weeks ago, I wrote about the importance of community and shared celebrations, and I'm returning to that theme this week, which has been such a memorable one for Aldershot and Farnborough.

It started last Thursday, with the lighting of our specially-commissioned beacon in Manor Park on the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

It was a heart-warming occasion, not just for the wonderful performances from our speakers, our band and our young piper, or the lighting of the impressive beacon itself.

The best part of the evening was joining in a shared experience of community, the people who said how this event made them feel proud of their town, and the memories of the spirit that carried this country, and our towns, through the most difficult period in its history.
