Ensure supplies set for festive season

NHS 24 is urging people in Lanarkshire to check their supplies now and ensure they have enough prescribed medicines to last through the Christmas and New Year closures.

Nothing is more inconvenient than realising you've run out of your essential medicines just as GP surgeries and pharmacies close for the festive break.

December's rush and excitement often cause people to overlook their repeat prescriptions, which leads to unnecessary anxiety and disruption over the holidays.

Dr John McAnaw, head of pharmacy and associate clinical director at NHS 24, said: "Each holiday season, thousands of patients call NHS 24's 111 service because they have run out of prescribed medicines.
