Signal violations nearly double, wrong-side driving up in 1st half of '25
Are Amdavadi commuters becoming more insensitive towards traffic norms? The answer is probably "Yes". The traffic police department's figures paint a clear picture. Whether it's jumping red lights, using mobile phones while driving, travelling on the wrong side, or speeding—every offence has risen sharply in the first half of 2025 compared to 2024.
The numbers tell the tale. Signal violations in the first six months of 2024 stood at 9,329, with fines totalling Rs 46,74,000. In 2025, these nearly doubled to 18,627, bringing in Rs 94,42,000 in penalties.
Red signal violations often cause serious accidents. Vehicles can run over pedestrians or crash into others coming from green signal directions.
