Running low on Vitamin D

Doctors raise alarm over deficiency of essential vitamin across age groups in city; lack of awareness, lifestyle changes linked to rising cases of related preventable conditions

Here's no denying that Amdavadis are blessed with abundant sunlight, especially when its blazing rays roast us for more than half the day every day. What is ironic — and a little alarming — is that despite this, a vast majority of Amdavadis are missing out on the essential vitamin that the sun provides free of cost: Vitamin D.

Doctors, in fact, are raising alarms over what they describe as a 'silent epidemic' of Vitamin D deficiency, stating that nearly 80 per cent of the city's population remains unaware of their deficiency, even though it may be silently contributing to several health issues across all age groups.
