Rs 1,000-crore fund to power AI, semicon push

The announcement forms part of the new Science, Technology & Innovation (STI) Policy 2026-2031, unveiled by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during the inaugural session of the Gujarat SemiConnect Conference 2026 in the city on Sunday.

Under the new framework, the fund is expected to support more than 100 high-impact research projects every year, catalysing breakthroughs in deep-tech domains and accelerating the creation of globally competitive intellectual property.
Regional innovation clusters
The policy also proposes the creation of Gujarat Rajya Research & Innovation Clusters (GRRIC), envisaged as a comprehensive science and technology network. The initiative will begin in the Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad region before expanding to the Vadodara-Surat and Rajkot-Bhavnagar-Junagadh-Jamnagar corridors.
