NU students design app to prevent fraud calls

SecureX app swiftly catches voice scams, classifies calls as 'Highly Suspicious'

An estimate suggests that at least 2,500 Gujaratis lose Rs 5 crore daily to online frauds across the state, from cyber-attacks to digital arrests. After watching friends and family repeatedly receive scam calls, with some losing money to fraudsters, students at Nirma University built SecureX. This cybersecurity app detects and prevents audio-based fraud as it happens.

Third-year students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering designed the project, called "AI-driven Real-Time Voice Fraud Detection for Enterprise Communication."

The team (Princy Pandya, Rensi Padmani, Yamini Pambhar, and Tamanna Oza) also picked up second runner-up position for this project at a DA-IICT hackathon.
