City police arrested 29 long-absconding criminals involved in 26 serious offences across seven states in a special drive called Operation Hawk-Eye between November 1 and December 31.
The most dramatic arrest was that of forgery accused Ashish Shah, who had been absconding for 23 years. He successfully dodged police action until meticulous case-diary analysis and renewed intelligence tracking caught up with him.
