Gujarat Has Risk Appetite, Tops Startup Performance

Says Union minister Piyush Goyal at Vejalpur Startup Festival; over 1,000 startups and 4,500 participants gathered for the fest on Sat

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal on Saturday praised the MLA-level startup event held at Vejalpur constituency in the city calling it a privilege to be in Union Home Minister Amit Shah's constituency. "A startup event at the Vejalpur constituency level by an MLA is remarkable. India has the third largest startup ecosystem in the world and the youth are going from being job seekers to job givers," said Goyal.

Praising Gujarat's startup sector, Goyal called it the top-performing state for the last four years in India. There is an appetite in people here for taking risks, he said while appreciating the state.

He also spoke about the government initiatives to encourage the sector including various schemes and tax benefits offered by the Centre.
