240 foreign nationals including 20 from Pak shortlisted ahead of Rath Yatra festivities; list includes 100 B'deshi nationals
City police have launched a rigorous crackdown on visa overstayers ahead of the upcoming Rath Yatra festivities. So far, they've identified 240 foreign nationals, including 20 Pakistani citizens and 100 Bangladeshi nationals, amid growing security concerns.
The operation was sparked by recent terror attacks in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. Police have formed seven specialized teams to track visa violators and begin deportation procedures. The massive Lord Jagannath religious procession on June 27 draws huge crowds and calls for extensive security measures.
