Bosses approve council runnning of market hall

SENIOR Hyndburn councillors have approved the day management of Accrington Market Hall being run ‘in-house’ by the council despite the ‘disappointment’ of the authority's Conservative group opposition leader.

‘The Grade-II heritage-listed retail hub is undergoing a multi-million pound revamp, scheduled to be completed in July.

Financed by government Levelling Up cash, management of the renovated Victorian complex was due to be handed over to an outside contractor by Hyndburn Council, but after talks with the preferred operator fell through decided to do the job itself.
