Sale captain Curry enjoying return to the 'hamster wheel'

NOW he is fit again and back on the “hamster wheel” of training, playing and recovering, everything in Ben Curry’s world appear to be normal.

Sale captain Curry enjoying return to the 'hamster wheel'

However, the 25-year-old Sale Sharks captain has revealed that he is still receiving the odd abusive message from South African trolls determined not to let go of his twin brother and housemate Tom’s claim that he was racially abused by Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi at the World Cup.

World Rugby reviewed allegations by Tom Curry that Mbonambi used discriminatory language during the semi-final and found that there was insufficient evidence to support his claims.

But Curry has insisted in a recent interview that “I heard what I heard” and Springbok ‘fans’ won’t let it drop. It could make for a hot reception when Sale Sharks go to Cape Town in the middle of January to take on the Stormers in the Champions Cup.

“I still get a few comments on Instagram but it’s alright, it’s all part of it. I probably won’t be visiting South Africa anytime soon apart from playing in January. That’ll be fun,” said Curry, who made his third appearance of the season at openside against Newcastle on Friday night.

By then, the lesser-capped of the two Currys will hope to be right back in England contention having now fully recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered in last season’s Premiership play-off semi-final.
