MEMORIES of Stansted’s FA Vase glory adorn the walls of the committee room at their Hargrave Park home.
It’s been 30 years since the Airportmen reached the final at Wembley, when older fans fondly remember buses being decked out in their blue and white colours for the their trip in the 1983-84 season.
A certain Glenn Hoddle, nephew of Stansted’s then-assistant manager Dave, and Ray Clemence went into the dressing room before the game for some pre-match words before they went out on the hallowed turf and beat Stamford 3-2.
The club hadn’t been past the first round before that magical season and their best run since came in 2010-11, when they were beaten in the fifth round by Dunston UTS.
