LUKE Hannant lashed home two superbly taken goals to break dogged Stourbridge hearts in what proved a cracking FA Cup tie.
Southern League Stourbridge failed to capitalise on a storming start, catching Gateshead cold with a couple of chances which they were unable to take.
It was a point not lost on Gateshead boss Mike Williamson and the for mer Wolves and Newcastle defender admitted: "We should have been two goals down in the opening minutes and it took us the first 15 minutes before we could get to grips with Stourbridge.
"They were always in the game, a real good side and I was very relieved at the finish!" Stourbridge started the game like a house on fire almost and scored in the opening 30 S seconds when Luke Benbow the caught Gateshead defence cold but defender Kenton Richardson saved the day with a tremendous last-ditch tackle.
