HAVING hit some heady heights during his playing days, sharp shooter Paul Hayes can't wait to begin his brand new journey in the dugout

The former Scunthorpe United and Charlton Athletic frontman ended his career on the pitch in NonLeague and is now beginning his managerial career in Step 6 with Dunmow Town.

HeyThe bridge-based side are on the up, having cantered to the Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier title last season, and Hayes says the club's long term ambition enticed him in.

"The only reason I came here is because I was so excited by what I heard," the 39-year-old rookie boss told The NLP.

Structure

"I spoke to the chairman and was immediately struck by the real desire to take the club up through the leagues.

"We are ground sharing with Heybridge Swifts at the moment, but the board want their own ground and to implement their own youth structure.
