NATIONAL League favourites Chesterfield put in a battling performance despite slipping to defeat to Premier League new boys Sheffield United.
A crowd of 9,476 packed into the SMH Group Stadium as Paul Cook’s side gave a good account of themselves in the first half.
But the top-flight quality shone through after the break as Iliman Ndiaye and Ben Osborn scored the goals to clinch the victory for the Blades.
The Spireites took control of the ball early on and looked to cause their neighbours a big scare. Trialist’s low cross from the right-hand side managed to evade everyone inside the six-yard box.
