YORK City took a huge step towards National League safety, while plunging Woking deeper into trouble in front of a record-breaking crowd at the LNER Community Stadium.

Goals from Billy Chadwick and Dipo Akinyemi saw York move to within touching distance of safety in the fifth tier, leapfrogging Woking in the process.

A crowd of 7,657 saw City break their record for the second time this season in a packed out LNER Community Stadium and York boss Adam Hinshelwood felt that the backing of supporters aided the Minstermen's spirited performance.

"It made it a bit nervy, but the players response in the second-half was excellent and we thoroughly deserved the three points," he said.

"The supporters were amazing today, this is like I said what we want as the norm. Big crowds where they can really get the team behind us, they have done that today.
