On June 21, 2025, Pakistan—ironically, the country once accused by the US of harbouring 9/11 masterminds—became the first to formally nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. This was followed by nominations from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel, Cambodia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Trump, never shy about his ambitions, posted on Truth Social: “I won't get a Nobel Prize for stopping a war between India and Pakistan,” a claim firmly denied by India, triggering diplomatic friction. The White House, however, insists he deserves the honour. Still, Trump acknowledged, “They would never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. It's too bad; I deserve it.”
