Maharashtra is one of India's most visited states for religious tourism, drawing millions of pilgrims annually. According to state tourism data, faith-based travel accounts for a large share of domestic tourist movement, with temples such as Shirdi Sai Baba, Pandharpur's Vitthal Rukmini Temple, and Siddhivinayak in Mumbai attracting lakhs of devotees each year.
