SKM-SDF MEMBERS CLASH IN SORENG

In May, Sikkim witnessed several important political developments- starting from political clashes between the members of the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha(SKM) and the opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF).
SDF's Avinash Yakha was seen firing with a licensed pistol in the air, which he claimed was for his safety and self-defence, as SKM workers chased him down. The incident was captured on camera, which later went viral on social media platforms. Apart from Yakha, SDF spokesperson Arun Limboo was also attacked, injuring his head severely. He was lucky to survive the attack.
Speaking about the incident, SKM said, "SDF's politics of violence has been exposed to the world when SDF worker Avinash Yakha started shooting with a firearm from his vehicle. This is because SDF was formed on the principle of violence, and it has not given up its culture of terrorising people."
In a press communique, SKM informed that one party worker going to Rinchenpong was attacked with a poisonous substance by SDF worker Arun Limboo when the former had to stop his vehicle at Soreng owing to a heavy traffic jam.
"After the SKM worker was attacked with a poisonous substance, SDF worker Avinash Yakha started firing from his vehicle. Yakha ran away from the spot as he continued firing his pistol," the communique stated, adding, "Some SKM workers were also injured because of this act of terror. We strongly condemn such violent acts. By doing so, the SDF is trying to defame and disrupt Sikkim's peace."
