The vice president used the daytime gauntlet—six hosts, overwhelmingly female audience—to amplify a mea culpa from his new memoir Communion, where he calls his infamous “childless cat ladies” jab “one of the dumbest things I ever said.” The apology is wrapped in the language of Catholic repentance. The timing is pure politics. Because Vance has a women problem.
