Inpatient physical rehabilitation facilities are often used for patients recuperating from the most severe illnesses or injuries. These centers provide intensive therapy with multidisciplinary teams of medical professionals. Research shows that physical therapy following surgery reduces recovery time. Newsweek and the global market research and consumer data firm Statista are proud to announce our ranking of America's Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers for the fourth year.

This award recognizes 280 leading inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. based on a survey of experts, quality metrics and accreditation data. Survey participants were also given an opportunity to specify standout programs in areas like rehabilitation for amputation, brain injury, cancer, spinal cord injury or stroke. The America's Best Physical Centers 2023

Rehabilitation ranking awards the leading inpatient physical rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. The centers were identified according to the definition of inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFS) by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). IRFS are freestanding rehabilitation hospitals and rehabilitation units in acute care hospitals.

Centers which offer outpatient physical rehabilitation services only were excluded. A few facilities which provide inpatient rehabilitation services but are not included in the CMS IRF data were also considered.
