IN THE morning of Sunday, May 11, headed to Wembley with great anticipation for Non-League Finals Day.

As a Non-League fanatic, I had always wanted to go to it but work commitments had thwarted me. Now my chance had finally come.

As a Hampshire man, I was eager to support Aldershot Town, who my late grandad had trials for in the 1960s, in the FA Trophy final.

Once I got to London Waterloo, all I could hear on the tube to Wembley Park was 'Red Army' from the Shots supporters. And when I walked down Wembley Way soon after, I was met by a stronger wave of Aldershot fans.

First up, though, was the FA Vase final between AFC Whytleafe and Whitstable Town. I missed 15 minutes of the match, but fortunately no goals. In fact, I was lucky as Whyteleafe scored almost immediately through Dan Bennett.
