Long marked by developmental imbalances, Maharashtra’s Marathwada region hasn't always had access to quality healthcare or medical education. Yet in what was once Aurangabad—now Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar—a government dental college quietly began rewriting that script. Founded in 1982 with just 30 BDS seats, the Government Dental College & Hospital (GDCH) has since grown into one of the state’s most advanced dental institutions. Today, it admits 63 undergraduate students each year, alongside 27 MDS candidates and 11 dental fellows— expanding its reach through policy, infrastructure and purpose.
