On 7th April, the iconic Qutub Minar in India's capital city, New Delhi, shone brightly adorned with the colours of the Rwandan national flag. This symbolic gesture stood as a solemn tribute to the people of Rwanda as they marked the 30th anniversary of one of the darkest chapters in their history the 1994 Rwanda Genocide, also known as Kwibuka30.
The genocide, conceived by armed Hutu extremists, resulted in the brutal massacre of an estimated 800,000 people over a span of 100 days. This harrowing period tore apart the fabric of Rwandan society, leaving scars that continue to resonate to this day.
