Do people think you're a dancer when you say you compete at the Highland Games?

They often say, “Are you doing the dancing?” I tell them no, I’m throwing the caber. I mean, come on — do I look like a dancer? I wear a kilt, but I won't be dressing up in lacy blouses with ruffled sleeves.

Do you need to be really strong to take part in caber tossing?

We have women of all shapes and sizes, some quite slight, and they do a great job. It's about technique rather than being bulky and muscular, so anyone could give it a shot.

What's it like taking part in the Highland Games?
