When Stars Land

The Philippine theatre scene was set ablaze last August with the star-studded gala premiere of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods.

Presented by the Theatre Group Asia (TGA), the opening at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater was a landmark event, signalling a new chapter for Filipino artistry on the world stage. The evening was not just a celebration of a beloved musical but also a poignant tribute to one of its key proponents, the late director Bobby Garcia.

The red carpet buzzed with excitement as Manila's cultural luminaries and theatre enthusiasts gathered to witness the highly anticipated production. TGA is a powerhouse collective of Filipino artists co-founded by Tony Award-winning visionary Clint Ramos and the late Garcia, following their groundbreaking success with Request sa Radyo. TGA's mission is to exalt Filipino artistry by creating a dialogue between global talents of Filipino heritage and celebrated local artists. This production of Into the Woods stands as the first embodiment of that ambitious goal.
