Sony's top-tier OLED, which sits above the A95L, is a visual treat

Sony Bravia 8 II

Sony doesn’t refresh every model every year, instead deliberately rolling some TVs across a couple of years. The company’s former flagship OLED model - the A95L - was announced in 2023, but wasn’t replaced until the Bravia 8 II launched in 2025. As such, this TV isn’t a replacement for the Bravia 8 or the Mini-LED Bravia 9, and the A95L is still around too in 77in form. It can be a bit confusing.

What's easier to understand is that Sony uses the same panel in the Bravia 8 II as the excellent Samsung S95F, meaning boosted brightness and impressive colours wrapped in Sony’s Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology. It can rival the best OLED TVs out there.

It’s not all good however. Only two of its four HDMI ports hit the 2.1 standard, and one of these also doubles as the eARC for hooking up to a soundbar. As a 120Hz panel, there’s no support for the higher refresh rates beloved of PC gamers, which is perhaps a little odd with other premium sets offering as much as 165Hz.

And where the Bravia 8 II design really lets itself down is with its feet. These attach at the very edge of the screen, so their width is the entire width of the TV. On the 55-inch model that’s 1224mm, while on the 65-inch model it’s 1,443mm - and your furniture will need to be even wider to accommodate it, as the feet jut out.
