When asked how she'll be celebrating her milestone 80th birthday in April, Judy Nunn declares, hand-on-heart, she has absolutely no idea.

"Not a clue, but likely a quiet lunch somewhere nice with my husband, Bruce [Venables]. I'm not really one for celebrating birthdays.

To be honest, I can't believe I've notched up so many," Judy says with a big smile.

The actor-turnedbestselling author likes to quote Hollywood movie queen Bette Davis when talking about her birthdays: "She said getting old ain't for sissies, and she's right.

Some mornings I find myself a little creaky. I've even had hip replacements, but right now I'm living my best years." For Judy, there's an upside to getting older.

"I used to worry about everything, from my weight to my wrinkles," she says.

"But somewhere in my fifties, concerns about age began to fade. I realised life is for living and who cares if I put on a few extra kilos. It's liberating!"
