The Imperial Hot Air Balloon by L'Epée 1839 is a one-off Métiers d'Art masterpiece adorned with over 1,600 hours of hand-applied grand feu and cloisonné enamel by David Kakabadze Enamel, celebrating mankind's first flight in 1783. Shaped like the Montgolfier brothers' inaugural balloon, its sculptural 39 cm-high form combines vibrant royal blue enamel with gilded “imperial” motifs—zodiac signs, fleurs-de-lis and eagles—evoking the grandeur of Versailles and the Age of Enlightenment.
