THE BEST COMBO YET?

As an existing owner of the original Sonos Arc paired with a Sub 3 and two One SL surround speakers, I was curious: How much better is the new Arc Ultra and Sub 4 combo? And is it worth upgrading from the older Arc?

Back in mid-October, Sonos expanded their wireless home speakers lineup with the new Arc Ultra soundbar and the Sub 4 subwoofer. After spending the past few weeks listening to music and watching movies and TV shows with this new combo, I daresay these are Sonos' best offerings yet. However, before you consider splurging, especially if you're already in the Sonos ecosystem, there are a few things you should know. As an existing owner of the original Sonos Arc paired with a Sub 3 and two One SL surround speakers, I was curious: How much better is the new Arc Ultra and Sub 4 combo? And is it worth upgrading from the older Arc? At first glance, the Arc Ultra looks very much like the original Arc, with Sonos' signature minimalist aesthetics and a rigid, stylish grille. The overall design language hasn't strayed far, though there are subtle changes. Notably, the touch controls have been repositioned to a rear ledge on the Arc Ultra. The play, pause, and skip buttons now sit in the centre of this ledge, while the touch volume controls have migrated to the far right.
