2023 has proven to be a remarkable year for Apple, as they have not only refreshed their 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros once, but twice.

The initial update in January brought the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, and now, a mere 10 months later, Apple introduces the latest M3 family of chips. Should readers who bought a MacBook Pro earlier this year feel bad? Maybe not. Let me tell you why. For those eager to flaunt the latest MacBook Pro, the Space Black finish is the telltale sign of cutting-edge technology, replacing the Space Grey exclusive to models with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. Despite the misleading name, the finish leans more towards dark grey, but the design remains mostly identical to earlier models.

The display now boasts a 20% increase in brightness for SDR content, reaching up to 600 nits. While the notch remains, it has become a non-issue for me. The display itself impresses with sharpness, crispness, and vibrant colors, though blooming issues may be hard to ignore once noticed.

The unchanged build quality maintains its class-leading status. The keyboard, while great, could benefit from a touch more feedback. The trackpad remains faultless-huge, responsive, and accurate. The six-speaker system, even at high volumes, showcases little distortion and palpable bass.
