I have had my eyes on The Lanesborough London hotel for many years. On the doorstep of Hyde Park (the daffodils in Spring are a sight you cannot miss), just a short walk from London's most exclusive shopping district; Sloane Street and Knightsbridge, this grand luxury mansion has undergone an inspired renovation. James Lane, second and last Viscount Lanesborough, built Lanesborough House in 1719. By 1825, the house was in a poor state. Architect William Wilkins, best known for his designs of famous buildings such as the National Gallery, was commissioned to redesign the building. Wilkins employed classical Greek revival styles, both of which were hallmarks of the Regency period (aka Bridgerton). In 1859, the third floor was added. The hotel is home to luxurious suites and rooms, modern British dining at The Lanesborough Grill, the vibrant Library Bar and Garden Room. Even though it is in the middle of some serious traffic, once inside, you hear no noise at all since all the long Regency windows are soundproofed.
