Christmas dinner is basically a social experiment with turkey. Take a group of people who, while related, may not know each other well. Mix in the expectation of a good time and fine food. Then sprinkle with end-of-year tiredness and a kaleidoscope of personalities. No wonder it doesn’t always end well.

Do not fear. This year I’ve cracked the code, analysed my guests and will match their personalities with a tipple. It’s not wine and food matching - it’s wine and people pairing. Everyone will leave my table feeling like they have been treated to something special.

While the right wine in the right hand might not stop your uncle ranting, or the kids’ tantrums over the wrong toys, it can help create memories. Think the clink of a glass of prosecco over your party-loving cousin’s unforgettable giggle, or granny savouring her port during that debate over the weird orange wine. Cin cin to that.
