Rarely does a neighbourhood cocktail bar, curated from start to finish, manage to make jaws drop and keep them there. Located in Lower Parel's Mathuradas Mill Compound — that has been long favoured by the city’s discerned crowd — the setting offers its own kind of architectural allure: old textile mills that now stand silent, full of history and hope. In one such half-century-old mill you have Late Checkout, a 120-seater Art Deco revival dining space, brought to life by restaurateur Nikita Shahri, in collaboration with a team of emerging architects. The vibe is Gatsby meets rustic glam — candlelight, velvet, and drama, paired with experimental food. There's even a chartered Late Checkout buggy to ferry guests to and from the compound’s gate — a touch straight out of Gatsby’s playbook.
