Priyamvada Golcha and Simon Marks celebrate India's pottery traditions, preserving them through their brand, Khanoom Jaipur, and a special collaboration with Nilaya Anthology

"Khanoom Jaipur is a cultural enterprise dedicated to preserving and nurturing the rich heritage of pottery, craft, and design,” exclaims Priyamvada Golcha who founded the brand with British designer Simon Marks just before the pandemic. Born in the pink city of Jaipur, Rajasthan, it takes inspiration for its name from 'Khnum', the ancient Egyptian ram-headed god believed to have fashioned living beings from clay on his potter's wheel — a fitting symbol for the studio's creative ethos. Producing handmade clay and ceramic tableware, Khanoom Jaipur works closely with potters and miniature painters from Rajasthan as well as ceramic engineers, mould experts, and technicians to create pottery and tableware that fuse traditional techniques with a blend of diverse sensibilities for contemporary living.
