Rooshad Shroff’s exploratory design approach takes craft to exciting new destinations

Challenging the limits of possibility comes naturally to Rooshad Shroff, whose award-winning, multifaceted practice does everything, but play it safe. Perhaps this is the effect of being “born into design,” as Rooshad, who hails from a family of renowned architects and designers, says. Or, perhaps it’s the result of learning and honing his craft at institutions and firms known for their innovative and investigative approach. The Cornell and Harvard University graduate worked at internationally acclaimed studios OMA/REX in New York City and Zaha Hadid Architects in London before opening his own studio in Mumbai in 2011. Since then, his practice has carved a unique niche for exploring projects across the design spectrum and pushing the boundaries of Indian artisanry.
