Don't want the vacation to end? These bathing spaces capture all the warmth and beauty of a luxurious summer sojourn

HOLIDAY MOOD

SUN-KISSED

You don't need sliding doors overlooking the sea to appreciate this dreamy bathroom, but we're sure it helps! For the bathroom in her Mexican holiday home, Chicago-based designer Summer Thornton wove the effortless spirit of coastal living together with the sun-drenched vibrancy of Mexican colour palettes. 'I wanted it to feel breezy and natural - quite literally when the doors are slung wide,' she says. 'Even when they're closed, the huge mirrors reflect the water so when I'm inside, I'm still connected with the ocean.' The walls are finished in an ancient Mayan plaster called chukum, in the softest shade of pink that recalls sun-kissed skin, while the bath is carved from a single block of travertine.

Step your travel aspirations up a gear by taking design cues from this space by Bryan O'Sullivan Studio. It may be situated in the urban heart of London’ Barbican but it has all the upscale glamour of an Italianate villa, ‘This bathroom was designed as a luxurious counterpoint to the Barbicans brutalist architecture’ says Bryan. ‘We used Cipollino marble for its bold veining, creating aisense of movement and drama’ A sinuous basin carved in grey onyx softens the baths rectilinear edges.

Lapicida stocks Cipollino marble, from £795sq m. Dash two-way thermostatic diverter valve trim with lever handles and thermostatic control valve, £2,226; dash wall-mounted tub spout and 2.x volume control valves, £1,800; Universal Transitional 5” shower head with adjustable spray, £618; Essentials Classic 230v multi-rail towel warmer, from £2,616, all Waterworks.
