Stylist Magda Smekens takes a light touch at Christmas, which sees her Belgian farmhouse filled with quirky decorative details and natural greenery
-
Magda and Claude Smekens are inseparable. Not only are they married, but they often work together she is a stylist and he is an interiors photographer - and for the past seven years they have spent much of their spare time together renovating their home near the Belgian hamlet of Maredsous.
Dating from around 1900, the property was once a tobacco farm and they have extended the house to include the former stable. Transformation complete, little remains of the building's humble beginnings - just a collection of cowbells in the sitting room - but its soul has been preserved, and improvements have been handled sympathetically.
